Four Award Nominations, in Two Categories: The West Country Women Awards, 2024!

I can hardly believe it, and am so very, very chuffed!

I have not been in the South West for very long, in fact, less than a year, and have only recently become aware of, and connected with, The West Country Women Awards.

So when I put it out into the world that I was considering entering, no fewer than four people nominated me, in two categories:

  • THE SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD

  • THE ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD

I received a copy of each and every nomination, and reading the reasons why I was nominated left me speechless!

All I could say was “Wow!”

Here’s what those who nominated me, said:

* Andrea is a superb photographer who has a way of creating truly stunning images. She takes the time to put people at ease, finding out what they feel comfortable with, then working with them to capture something unique. She is professional, approachable, and hugely talented. Her studio is private, welcoming and organised. I have no hesitation in nominating Andrea! - C. Westwood

* I have worked with Andrea on several occasions and her attention to detail with her work is phenomenal, producing some of the most wonderful photographs I have ever seen. She has an amazing ability to build an immediate rapport with clients with her warm and friendly manner and I feel she is so deserving of this award. - S. York

* I recently had the pleasure of taking my husband to Andrea's lovely studio in Cornwall so he could have some decent, up to date headshots done for his company website and social channels.
I was thoroughly impressed at Andrea's ability to help put my husband at ease with her humour, helpful tips and suggestions resulting in some excellent pictures which he was delighted with. We were not only super impressed with the whole experience, but that Andrea had only just relocated to Cornwall (a dream come true for her), we felt that this showed bold entranprenurial determination to establish her skills and passion for photography in a brand new area, which is hugely challenging in many ways. We wish her all the best for the future. - K. Jones

* I am thrilled to nominate Andrea de Gabriel for the Business Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication to empowering women through her photography. As a talented photographer, she has not only captured my own images but has also transformed the lives of other women by instilling confidence and self-assurance.
Andrea possesses a remarkable ability to create an environment where women feel comfortable, valued, and empowered. Through her lens, she doesn't just capture images; she captures the essence of her clients and their beauty. Her unique approach goes beyond traditional photography - it's a form of artistry and she creates incredible works of art which I call masterpieces!
One of the most commendable aspects of Andrea’s work is her unwavering commitment to promoting positive body image and self-esteem. Her photographs serve as a powerful reminder that beauty comes in many forms and that confidence is the most radiant accessory a woman can wear.
Moreover, Andrea goes above and beyond to create a supportive environment for her clients. She understands their insecurities and creates photo sessions to make her clients feel totally at ease. Her genuine compassion and empathy shine through in every interaction, leaving a lasting impact on those she works with.
In conclusion, Andrea exemplifies the values of the Women in Business Award through her dedication to empowering women. She is truly deserving of this recognition for her outstanding contributions to women. - S. Burton

I mean…

How do I even begin to thank people for such kind words, and for taking the time to nominate me?

I am sincerely moved!

What Next?

I am not yet a finalist even though I have been nominated, in such a spectacular fashion…

I’ve had to complete and application, following my nominations, and now it is up to the judges to decide whether I am a worthy finalist, which will be announced in September.

After that, there is a gala night, at the end of November, when the winners are announced from the pool of finalists.

So, basically, a long way to go yet!

But You Know What…

I could not have dreamt of being in with a chance for such prestigious awards, so soon after relocating my business.

I am growing, discovering, and making new connections!

Just to be nominated is an honour, and I look forward to telling you more about this journey!

So, watch this space…
